    Father John

A parent recently asked me whether The Comic Bible would be a good introduction to Scripture for her children. Before recommending it to families in my parish, I ordered a copy and took the time to read it myself.

What I appreciated was the opportunity it creates for parents and children to explore the Bible together. Young children can struggle to follow an unfamiliar passage. Illustrations give them something to connect with, while reading together gives you room to pause, answer questions and explain what the story means.

Those conversations matter. They help us teach our children about the love of Jesus, the sacrifice He made for us, and what it means to forgive others and love our neighbours.

Read a little together at bedtime. Let your child ask questions. Talk about how you can live out what you have read the next day.

Used alongside Scripture, this can be a wonderful starting point for sharing your faith with your children, one story and one conversation at a time.

Help your child understand the Bible and put faith into practice.

Colourful comics give your child a visual way to follow Bible stories, while reading together helps you explain why they matter. Talk about why Jesus gave His life to save us, the forgiveness He offers and His call to love one another.

Then bring those lessons into everyday life: forgiving a sibling, helping a neighbour and caring for your community. A simple way to help your child learn about Jesus and follow His example.

    • We couldn’t be prouder of our boy

“Seeing our son actually look forward to Bible time makes us so happy. He loves following the pictures and finding out what happens next, and it gives us a way to talk about Jesus together. Watching him take an interest in the faith that means so much to our family. I'm almost tearing up writing this.

    • They actually want to keep reading

“I wanted something that would hold my kids’ attention without watering down the message. The comics drew them in, and reading together gave us a chance to talk about Jesus, forgiveness and what the stories mean. They kept asking questions and wanting to read more. That’s what I’d been hoping for.”

    • Sharing our faith, one bedtime story at a time

"One of my biggest worries is that my kids might drift away from faith as they get older. I’m so glad we can start sharing it with them while they’re young, in a way they enjoy. We read together at bedtime and talk about Jesus, God’s love and their questions. Those quiet moments have become such a special part of our day.”
